Urgent Volunteer Need

When you think about volunteering at The Rescue Mission, you probably imagine serving someone a meal. But did you realize that there are other volunteer needs at The Rescue Mission? Spots for serving meals fill up quickly, and right now we're in need of some champion volunteers at Treasure House, The Rescue Mission's Thrift Store & Donation Center.

Why should you volunteer at Treasure House? Here are just a few reasons:

  • Treasure House restores dignity.  Maybe it's a man who has just entered Life House and has only the clothes he's wearing, or maybe it's a woman who graduated the long-term program at Charis House and needs to furnish her new home. Whoever it is, dignity is restored by giving people the opportunity to shop for what they need. Rescue Mission men and women can shop for something they like when we give them a voucher for Treasure House.

  • Treasure House helps meet the immediate needs of the homeless. Volunteering at Treasure House isn't just about handling items that will be sold in the store. Beginning September 1, Treasure House will be the organizational hub for ALL item donations for The Rescue Mission. That means hygiene items, socks, shower shoes, Bibles, and other items that all of our residents use will be housed at Treasure House until someone needs them. Your volunteering helps us keep organized to best serve the homeless and to meet their immediate needs.

  • Volunteering at Treasure House helps fund life-changing Rescue Mission programs. Funds raised at Treasure House support programming at The Rescue Mission. That means your help at Treasure House is vital to Changing Lives for Good for the men, women, and children we serve.

  • You'll have the opportunity to directly impact our residents. Throughout the week, men and women in The Rescue Mission's vocation program work at Treasure House. As a volunteer, you may encounter our residents and have the opportunity to pour into their lives.

  • It's an urgent need for The Rescue Mission. We've recently reset our Treasure House Thrift Store & Donation Center. The feedback on changes at the store have been incredible, but we can't keep up the improvements without the help of our outstanding volunteers.

We hope you will prayerfully consider volunteering at Treasure House. For information on hours and what types of volunteer openings we have, please send an email to deanna@therescuemission.net
